...Guess what??? Kathy's doing the AVON WALK for BREAST CANCER!

I don't know exactly when it was but I really started thinking about my life one day. I am 24 years old, I have a wonderful husband and two adorable cats, I have a fun job that pays well, I am healthy, and I have a very loving family that would do just about anything for me. However, I still felt like something was missing. I felt the need to better express my gratitude for life. So... I decided that I am going to walk a 26.2 mile marathon (that's no typo... 26.2 miles) with thousands of other people to raise money for awareness and early detection of breast cancer. On June 7th & 8th, I will spend the weekend walking in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Some people have called me crazy for attempting to walk so far. I know the journey will be long and hard, but it has to be an easy one compared to what cancer patients go through in their fight against the disease. I had no idea that every three minutes, another woman in the US alone is diagnosed with breast cancer; I was shocked to learn how widespread it has become. I was so shocked, in fact, that I have now committed myself to doing something about it.

By registering for this event, I have committed to raising a minimum of $1,750 in fully tax-deductible donations. At first, this number seemed downright impossible, but every day I become more and more confident that I will meet, and hopefully exceed, this goal. In fact, I actually set my personal fund raising goal at $2,000, just to give myself even more of a challenge.

This is a major undertaking that I am involved in. I can't do it alone, but with a little help anything is possible. For those who know me, you know that I am NOT a shy person. The way I see it... it never hurts to ask! Please help support me and the breast cancer cause by making a contribution to my efforts. You can make your donation right online with a credit or debit card. Or, if you are not a fan of the web, you can also send me a check or good old-fashioned cash (contact me for my mailing address and more information on this method of donating). Please keep in mind how far I am walking and how hard I have to train between now and June. Once again, my personal goal is $2,000.

Breast cancer does not discriminate on the basis of age, color or heredity. One in every nine women in America will develop breast cancer in her lifetime, and over one million women in America are living with undetected breast cancer right now. The donation you give could help make someone a cancer survivor instead of a cancer victim.

Now, I wouldn't expect you to give me money without having at least a question or two. Feel free to browse the website to find out more about the Avon Walk. If you still have questions, PLEASE don't hesitate to ask me! Again, my email address is TEN96KATH@aol.com. I will be collecting money from now until June. Thank you so much for your support and hopefully for your contribution as well! I am sure this will be the most gratifying event of my life so far.

Take Care,

Kathy Pelot
